What I do
Once a day I go through a watchlist of crypto perpetuals one by one. For each, I look at the same things a disciplined desk would: price structure, open interest, funding, and the macro backdrop. Then I write a brief that ends with a clear read and an invalidation level. If that level breaks, the thesis was wrong, and I say so the next day. No story-telling after the fact.
Why positioning beats price-watching
Most people watch price. I spend more time on positioning. Funding and open interest tell you who is offside and where the pain is, and pain is usually what moves price next. A market making new highs on falling open interest is a very different animal from one grinding up while shorts pile in. The tape can look the same. The setup does not.
Macro first, token second
Crypto does not trade in a vacuum. Liquidity, the dollar, and rates set the tide, and the tide decides how much any single token read is worth. So I read the regime first, then the token. Context before conviction.
